Retiring Old Glory

The Stars & Stripes is a symbol of our nation’s freedom, as well as the valor of those who have served our country. So it’s no wonder that Old Glory flies proudly on front porches, school campuses, firehouses and various businesses.
But when our nation’s flag starts to look tired and worn, it’s hard to know what to do.
According to the Flag Code , Title 4, Section 8K, “the flag, when it’s in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning”.
While it’s certainly possible to reverently burn the flag on your own, there’s another way.

At Sierra Foothills, we proudly serve Veterans of our military each month, and we are glad to take any worn or damaged flag and place it with a Veteran for an honorable and appropriate disposal.
If you have a flag that you would like to retire, please call or stop by during business hours.
We would love to meet you.
Thank you for reading & God bless.
